Tell Us Who You Are!

Hey, we want to know about our audience for this blog! I know many of you are shy. You email me directly, or come up to me at conferences or RWA meetings and tell me you read this blog, talk about things we've posted. But most of you don't comment - which is fine, except that then we don't quite know whom we are talking to.

So we'll make this really easy. See over there at the top of the right side? A poll! Yep, just check whichever boxes apply to you and click [Vote]. The poll will be active for two weeks. Please participate.

I participated.

I admit if I feel I'm not adding to the discussion, I'll stay silent.

It's probably a bad habit, but I do read the blog regularly, comment or no comment.

Hi, I'll introduce myself. I'm Ian, aspiring novelist who might be about to land an agent. I'm currently in my fifth time through NaNoWriMo (and on pace to succeed for the fifth time as well). I write speculative fiction for the most part. I have a blog where I talk about writing called Perpetual Writer's Blog, and a daily webcomic called The Adventures of the S-Team. I also like long walks in the mountains and getting caught in the rain (sorry, this was feeling like a personals ad). :)

I honestly don't remember if I've commented here before or not. But I DO always read. ;)

I read the blog every day. There's always something interesting and noteworthy.

I'm an Ellora's Cave Author. Two stories out, two coming before March 1, and two more contracted.

I comment frequently. Not as often as I'd like, but more than most blogs.

I don't comment much either, but i'm still here reading on a regular basis.

Pretty interesting to see the results. For the most part, we're female aspiring authors.

(I'm a frequent visitor but have never commented. So, hi! I'm Rachel.)

Wow. That's a very comprehensive list. Nice thinking.

Hi. I'm a writer/illustrator of middle grade fiction. I came across your blog a few months ago when I was searching the web for information about publishing. I have been a loyal follower ever since.

Love the poll. You know us reclusive writer-types so well.

: )

I'm not sure I've ever commented before, so, hello!

Cool poll. I comment once and while. I'm anxious for you guys to interview my editor. LOL!!

Becky Burkheart said...

Not too reclusive :) I comment occasionally, but mostly just read here and soak up all the good information.

Wow, welcome all. It makes us feel good to know someone is actually reading us, and maybe benefiting from whatever info we can give.

We're very open to any suggestions for editing/writing/publishing topics you'd like to see addressed on this blog, things you'd like to discuss.

Congratulations to those of you doing NaNoWriMo, Ian included.

Now I must get back to that book I'm editing...

I added my two cents to your poll.

I'm an aspiring author who reads this blog on a daily basis (subscribed through Google Reader.) Yet I never posted a comment. I'm mostly interested in E-publishing as the new age of publishing standards. It is in this regard why I read the posts, to find out how the business works.

Author with Ellora's Cave - I always take a minute to read, but barely any minutes to write! So much info here, though, that this is one of my favorite places to visit. Nice to meet everyone!

I subscribe via my Google Reader and rarely click through to comment . . . but I never miss a post, either!

I've published a few stories (lit fic, erotica) and essays (in print anthologies). I'm working on my third novel ms. I'm getting closer to being ready to begin the query process with my best work.

I am also an avid reader and participate in both book clubs and writer's groups.

Redlines and Deadlines is one of only four blogs I check on a daily basis. But like others here, unless I feel I can add something or a topic strikes a chord with me, I don't usually post.

I had to improvise because I'm a very published writer - journals, magazines and newspapers - but not a published author.

I participated in the poll. I'm Francesca Hawley and I'll soon have a novel, Protect and Defend, published with Ellora's Cave.

I'm also a librarian, and that is one category not included in the poll! Librarians love books and as a group we are going techie - I have a number of friends with Kindles and readers. I'm still reading my e-books on my computer for now.

Adele Dubois said...

My name is Adele Dubois, Ellora's Cave author of paranormal erotic romance. I often lurk, but occasionally post a comment. :)

Best--Adele

OMG, Francesca, I'm sorry - how could I have forgotten to list "Librarian"? The keepers of all the wisdom in the world.

Have you read "Like a Charm" by Candace Havens? The heroine inherits a library - which is "haunted" because it is a portal between this world and the next. The dead people show up and check out books.

Raelene,
I haven't read the Candace Haven book, but I think you sold me. I'll have to get a copy to read!

Thanks,
Francesca
