You do realize that everyone is spending all their book-buying budget this week on Breaking Dawn and Acheron, right? The more serious fiction readers are plunking down their dollars for The Lace Reader. The politically minded went for the two new books on Obama.
The rest of the publishing world is just going to limp along this week, begging readers to spend any extra pennies on our books. Of course, e-publishers and online bookstores do have a bit of an advantage. If readers have to buy gas to get to an actual bookstore, they sure aren't going to have any money left for books.

Really? Wow. 'Cause I've never heard of those and don't plan to buy any books by/or about politicos.
Me--I'm looking at another mystery by Charles Todd.
:-)
"If readers have to buy gas to get to an actual bookstore, they sure aren't going to have any money left for books."
That sure is the truth!
Actually, I spent money on The Tipping Point and 365 Easy Soup Recipes. (Don't ask me why because it is SO not soup weather.) And I haven't heard of those books either. LOL
Well, I did indeed buy "Breaking Dawn" this weekend, but I've never heard of the other books.
After Devil May Cry you couldn't pay me to read Acheron. I have style issues.
I have no book-buying budget this week, or any week. I use the library.
Really?
I went to B&N yesterday and bought 3 books:
- Valiant: The Lost Fleet 4 by Jack Campbell
- Grave Peril by Jim Butcher
- It Happened One Knife by Jeff Cohen
I've heard of Breaking Dawn but I stopped reading Sherrilynn Kenyon over a year ago, she was getting predictable. I've never heard of the lace book and absolutely no interest in a political book about anyone.
Don't plan to buy any of those. My next book will likely be a couple of e-books this week. And maybe the newest J.A.Jance in e-form. Don't read those others...
I bought Brockmann's "Into the Fire." A grown up approach to romance, and that woman can really write!
Only 100 pages in and loving it.
Ok, I admit it. I bought Acheron...and I'm not even half way through with it yet. It's HUGE! and I read super slow, but so far, I'm enjoying it. After Dark Side of the Moon, I said I'd never buy another hard cover of hers, but I'm glad I got Acheron because even though it does have some touchy subjects in it, it's a good story so far. Didn't care much for the bits in first person (I loathe first person), but I muddled through just fine.
Never heard of the other books, though.
Um, I have no interest in buying any of these books. Guess I'm lame.
I bought Acheron, and am a loyal Sherrilyn Kenyon fan.
Everyone is allowed to have an opinion on what we read so everyone's comments are fair and justified. My only issue is that I don't understand why people would black list an author for one book? I have several fav authors who I regularly buy from. ALL of them have squeezed out a book or two that I didn't agree with or felt took them away from what made their books a great read. I think that if they didn't try to go in new directions and push us and themselves, they would never strive to come up with original thought and would become just another cookie-cutter book on the "shelf". (Shelf in quotes because I'm a dedicated ebook buyer and haven't bought a paper book since I updated my scrabble dictionary last year.) :)
ps - I enjoyed Acheron on a lot of levels. When you anticipate a book for too long you tend to devour them and not taken in all the details. I'm now rereading it more slowly for the second time.
