Amazon Sales Stats

Amazon reports that net sales for third fiscal quarter (ending Sept. 30) rose 31% to $4.26 billion; net income rose 48% to $118 million.

Their prediction of net sales for the full year is $18.46 to $19.46 billion. They estimate net sales in fourth quarter of $6 to $7 billion.

Amazon is still not divulging any sales figures on the Kindle e-reader, but is continuing to state that Kindle titles account for more than 10% of sales for books that are available in both print and Kindle formats.

I have two books in Kindle format from other publishers and they sell really, really well. I wish EC would put all its books in that format.
Yes, I know you can do the download EC books to the Kindle thing but it's a hassle and they don't look 'right' when you do...and believe me I've tried with several. To be able to do a one-click and have the book on your Kindle almost instantly is terrific. If you have a credit card on file at Amazon, you never even have to give out your info. In less time that it takes to sneeze, the book is yours.

Last night our wireless went down for four hours but I was able to download three SF books for my son in less than half a minute using the USB cable between my computer and my Kindle.

How simple is that? Making it easy for readers who have the Kindle to acquire our books just makes good sense to me.

I just received a Kindle for my birthday and I love it, love it, love it. It's the easiest thing to use--instant gratification. No filling out credit cards numbers, etc. The print is so clear, and you can adjust it to your eyesight. I really can't think of a negative thing to say about it as of yet. I even love the leather cover, because it feels like you're holding a substantial book in your hand!
